Omar Torrez’s musical recipe is equal parts post-modern rock, Mexican and Cuban Son, gutbucket blues, spiced with stunning guitar wizardry and soulful songwriting.
He is best known as Tom Waits’ guitarist on the Glitter & Doom world tour.
His record, A Night of Serious Drinking, was produced by Tony Berg (Michael Penn, Aimee Mann, Bob Dylan, Pink, Public Image Ltd.). The single “Marina” won 3rd place in the Latin category of the International Songwriting Competition in 2012.
He most recently began collaborating with legendary Russian songwriter/singer Boris Grebenshikov, touring in Montenegro, Israel and Spain. Grebenschikov wrote, He Судьба,
a song to feature Omar’s solo guitar work on the 2020 record Sign Of Fire.
